The first Grand Showdown took place in Los Angeles on September 21 at Hyatt Regency Los Angeles International Airport.
Relive the excitement of the event below!
The event took place after the release of Paragons of the Colosseum, with many players opting to bring Spellchain Runecraft due to its consistency. In fact, Runecraft made up nearly 25% of the playing field.
Forestcraft: 15.3%
Swordcraft: 11.7%
Runecraft: 23.8%
Dragoncraft: 13.3%
Abysscraft: 20.2%
Havencraft: 15.3%
Umamusume: 0.4%
Coming into the tournament, Spellchain Runecraft had a huge target on its back with many players opting for more aggressive game plans. Thanks to the addition of Amataz, Fairy Blader, Forestcraft was often able to flood the board with low-cost, high-power followers. Abysscraft also received more support for both the Sanguine and Control variants, with Aragavy the Berseker and Ginsetsu, Great Fox providing much-needed utility for both archetypes.
While many had predicted either Spellchain Runecraft or Fairy Forestcraft to make it past the finishing line, CbassDaFishy and his Disdain Dragoncraft deck rose above the competition and went undefeated throughout the day to take home the three copies of the coveted Gilnelise, Omen of Craving.
