Grand Showdown Someren 2025 Recap

The final Grand Showdown before the Bushiroad Championship Series 24/25 World Finals took place in Someren at Het Keelven on March 22!

Here's a recap of everything that went down at the event!

With Alterchaotica released for over a month, players have had plenty of time to practice and refine their play patterns, especially for more complex decks such as Puppet Forestcraft.

Forestcraft: 25%

Swordcraft: 11.11%

Runecraft: 13.89%

Dragoncraft: 18.06%

Abysscraft: 19.44%

Havencraft: 12.5%

Umamusume: Pretty Derby: 0%

THE IDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS: 0%

Coming into the tournament, Puppet Forestcraft and 2-Cost Abysscraft were expected to make up a large proportion of the tournament meta as both decks excel at controlling the board while chipping away at their opponent. However, fresh from the Bushiroad Championship 24/25 regional qualifiers in Zwolle, Netherlands, the previous weekend, more players opted to bring Runecraft and Dragoncraft. Both the Lishenna and Galmieux variants have favorable matchups against Puppet Forestcraft thanks to their ability to effectively deal with wide boards.

Somewhat poetically, the finals came down to a Puppet Forestcraft and 2-Cost Abysscraft showdown. cricko, the pilot of the 2-Cost Abysscraft deck, having just staved off a 20-attack Maisha, Hero of Purgation in the semifinals, now had to fend against a swarm of aggressive roaches. With a great deal of patience, cricko prolonged the game long enough till their opponent ran out of steam and achieved a complete reversal.
